The Master of Animal Protection Policy (MAPP) is designed to train animal rights and policy leaders. Through specialized courses and hands-on training, students gain skills to navigate legal and political landscapes and make changes for animals in a variety of areas and growing career paths. Animal rights and politics is a growing field where more and more students and employers recognize and focus on the connection between human, environmental and animal welfare. VLGS is uniquely positioned to educate students to effectively advocate for animals, given its decades of history as an animal rights pioneer, respected faculty, strong and active alumni network in leadership positions, and collaborative programs. Please contact the Admissions Office if you have any questions about admissions or programs. VLGS alumni seek to make changes in various organizations: government agencies, non-profit organizations, businesses, and NGOs. Our graduates are agents of change, embarking on nearly twice as many public and nonprofit careers as the national law school average. A VLGS degree is the beginning of a constructive career and a meaningful life. Students enrolled in a U.S. law school that participates in the law school exchange program should contact their school`s admissions office for instructions on the application. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Vermont School of Law Admissions Department. “New Frontiers is a unique and unique experience that has strengthened my passion for environmental law and policy.

The summer program allowed me to build close relationships with faculty, learn from current law students, and focus on a career in the field. Not to mention, a summer in picturesque Vermont with other students in the program created memorable experiences like tubing, hiking, and sightseeing. I returned to South Royalton excited about the New Frontiers program for a master`s degree. I felt more than prepared thanks to the summer program and started right from the beginning of the classes. While VLS has a lovely campus in beautiful surroundings, what sets the law school apart are the people, especially the faculty. They are always approachable and ready to help with courses and career goals. My experience at VLS has given me the fundamental knowledge to make a positive contribution to our world. I have been fortunate to work on environmental issues with the Environmental Protection Agency in Cambodia, Kosovo and now here in the United States. VLS has opened so many doors for me and given me both wonderful and personal work experiences. A degree from Vermont Law and Graduate School is a degree like no other. Nationally recognized for its environmental, social and restorative justice programs, students come to VLGS not to adapt to the status quo, but to change it.

They learn what it means to fight, often against powerful interests and adversity, on the side of justice and truth. Vermont Law School`s academic programs are designed to turn legal expertise and skills into tools of consequence. Faculty members, renowned jurists and practitioners, offer an extensive catalog of courses that includes most environmental law courses from all law schools in the United States. International programs allow students to broaden their understanding of global politics and law and test the waters of legal practice outside the United States. And the Julien and Virginia Cornell Library, one of the best environmental law resources in the country, helps students and faculty learn and practice. Students applying to all Juris Doctor (JD) programs must submit all application documents via LSAC.org. The program includes courses in food and agricultural law and policy, a wide range of electives in environmental law and policy, and writing and advocacy courses. Experience opportunities with state and federal agencies, nonprofits, and advocacy groups prepare graduates for careers in politics and advocacy. The current criminal justice system is financially and ethically unsustainable. Plagued by prohibitive costs of incarceration, high rates of recidivism, devastating effects on children of incarcerated parents, the burden and collateral consequences of a criminal conviction, a “school to prison” pipeline resulting from excessively harsh academic discipline, and racial, economic and geographic inequalities, our communities need alternatives to the traditional criminal justice model. In addition to a bar exam, every U.S. jurisdiction has character, suitability, and other qualifications for admission to the bar.

Applicants are encouraged to determine the requirements for each jurisdiction in which they wish to apply for admission by contacting the jurisdiction. The addresses of all relevant bodies are available from the National Conference of Bar Examiners. Acceptance by the Faculty of Law does not guarantee certification by examiners of the State Bar. If you are concerned about facts that may affect your right to exercise the law, you should discuss them with the Board of Bar Examiners of the state and jurisdiction in which you are expected to practice. If you are interested in a work-study programme, please note the programme descriptions and application information for individual work-study programmes. Please note that admission to the JD or Master programme does not guarantee admission to a work-study programme. Kendra aims to facilitate student acclaim at law school. It addresses issues facing first- and second-generation law students. We do not favor university majors in political science, economics, or other concentrations traditionally associated with pre-legal education. What we are looking for are programs that give students the opportunity to critically analyze and think creatively. We require applicants to have a bachelor`s degree at the time of registration. U.S.

institutions must be accredited at the regional level. To apply for our on-campus and online Master`s programmes, please use the VLGS web application. International Master`s Degree applicants must provide the additional English proficiency and transcript assessments outlined on the VLGS International Applicants page. We look at the baccalaureate file from several angles: quality of the baccalaureate institution; the nature and rigour of the curriculum; performance relative to other students in the same school; Trend in grades from the first year to the year of graduation; and the length of time between graduation and admission to the Faculty of Law. Many of our candidates have completed a thesis. We see this positively when the quality of work exceeds the minimum standards required for the graduate program. Most students pursue these master`s programs full-time over one year (12 months) or online over 18 months. Students can take part-time courses and have up to five years to graduate. Non-degree certificates are 9-credit programs that must be completed within two years.

VLS academic programmes combine a strong foundation in law and policy with a focus on one or more areas of specialisation. The hands-on, hands-on experience gained from working in legal clinics and internships allows students to hone their expertise and tailor their talents to their passions. We need two letters of recommendation. We look for thoughtful, content-related recommendations that specifically speak to your personal knowledge about your academic potential and relevant personal qualities. We prefer at least a recommendation from a university or graduate professor, although we understand that this is not possible if you have been out of university for a while. In this case, ask someone who knows your work in your profession or community to write on your behalf. We want to know how you have intellectual abilities, your character, your determination, your professional and community achievements, your potential for contributions to the legal community and the community at large, and how you compare to other law students the author has known. Vermont Law and Graduate School offers scholarships each year for outstanding master`s degree applicants.
