The Diversity Studies minor is an option for students who wish to explore key concepts related to power, identity, and difference, and understand how historical and structural relationships of power and difference shape social relations. The minor, administered jointly by the School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences and the School of Pedagogical Studies at UW Bothell, integrates theoretical and practical approaches to the study of diversity. The minor in Gender, Women`s and Sexuality Studies is a perfect complement to majors in any discipline: from American and Ethnic Studies to biology and educational studies. The minor allows students to examine social, political, and cultural realities shaped by gender, sexuality, and power. GWSS approaches issues from a transnational and intersectional perspective, enabling students to analyze and address issues of gender, sexuality and social difference at personal, historical, institutional and structural levels.
