Una Droga Legal O Ilegal

Una Droga Legal O Ilegal

Are all medications the same? Surely you know that there are many types of drugs and that they have different effects or consequences on the brain and body. In the psyche of most Spanish speakers, the term drug is associated with an illegal substance: when we hear about drugs, the first names that probably come to mind are cocaine, heroin, ecstasy or LSD. Study of 380 older people, Facebook users, who answered an online questionnaire that asked questions about socio-demographic data, frequency and amount of legal and illegal drug use, and depressive symptoms. Drug use is dangerous. It can damage your brain and body, sometimes permanently. It can hurt people around you, including friends, family, children, and unborn babies. Drug use can also lead to addiction. The brain changes of addiction can be long-lasting, which is why addiction is considered a “recurrent” disease. This means that people in recovery are at risk of resuming medication, even after not being taken for years.

Probably the most consumed and socially accepted drug to the point of being part of a variety of cultures. Alcohol or ethanol is a depressed substance that reduces the activation of the nervous system and is consumed by all types of people, usually from puberty. In addition, they use this illegality to sell more: they claim to be legal, which leads the consumer to believe that the danger is minimal. However, in many cases, their psychoactive effects are not known and many of them have devastating effects on those who consume them. For example, the well-known cannibalistic drug or crocodile were illegal at the time, with the aim of replacing the already persecuted heroin. Drug legalization won`t eliminate organized crime The pandemic forced a change in the way participants were recruited, so it wasn`t certain that seniors would participate exclusively, which was a limitation of the study, which should be repeated in person if possible. However, this article includes the reported use of several drugs in a certain population of older adults, the Facebook user®, at a time that can significantly affect the outcome during captivity. It is important to consider these factors when interpreting the results. Another caveat to consider is that since this study was approached from a line of research developed at the Institute of Health Sciences at Veracruzana University, Mexico, called Drug Demand Reduction Research, it did not include indicators of comorbidity, other treatments, or geriatric assessment of the participating population. However, it is also important to note that the results obtained open up a perspective for work on drug use in the elderly, which will certainly include these study variables in the near future. The wide range of substances used (marijuana, opiates, hallucinogens, amphetamines, inhalants and cocaine) shows an affinity with the literature on the subject, as polydrug use was observed in this population.

Legal drug use is also present in older adults with depressive symptoms, as reported by Henwood and Padgett (2007)14, who described it as a strategy to “strictly manage the symptoms of mental disorders.” Is alcohol a drug? What about tobacco? Joints, marijuana, alcohol, ecstasy. More and more drugs are popping up and I don`t really know what each one is doing. Alcohol I already know what it does, and some make you more active, with others you laugh, others leave you dazed. The truth is that knowing the effects of everything is a waste. But I would like to, because then I know better if my daughter takes them or not. 50.26% were women; the median age was 66.79 years (SD = 5.81); 31.05% consumed alcohol in the past 30 days, 22.63% tobacco, non-prescription sedatives 16.05% and marijuana 7.89%. Other illicit drug use did not exceed 2.6% of the population. When comparing users and non-users, it turned out that consumption was slightly higher among women and singles in the past 30 days and no difference was observed by grade level. Mild and severe depressive symptoms were found to be associated with all drugs except tobacco and opiates. Drug addiction is a chronic disease of the brain. It causes a person to take drugs repeatedly, despite the damage it causes. Repeated drug use can alter the brain and lead to addiction.

Psychosocial factors related to drug use and abuse in older adults, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, have been documented as including depression1, stress5 and self-medication2. Depression can have atypical or non-specific symptoms that are exacerbated by drug use, as they can alter mood and accelerate cognitive decline, increase depressive manifestations, and increase the risk of suicide.7, 8 Several risk factors can make you more likely to become addicted to drugs, including: Due to changes in the density of water and fat in the body in the elderly, drugs are used at a lower rate while normal liver function slows down and slows down, so drugs are metabolized more slowly and eliminated from the body. Extension of its action1, 5, 11. Think of a drug. Which one did you find? Cocaine, heroin…? In general, when you ask someone about drugs, they usually think of illegal drugs. Illicit drugs are those that are prohibited by law, such as cocaine, marijuana, heroin. Its consumption, purchase, sale, cultivation and production are not permitted. Of course, as we indicated in the introduction, they are legal does not mean that they do not pose a danger, since their abuse and / or misuse are very dangerous and harmful to health and can cause serious illness or even death. The pandemic and sanitation measures have forced us to look for innovative ways to do research in this area and to take another type of approach via social networks – especially Facebook® – which, in this case, was new to the elderly population, as they could not find other studies on drug use using this technique.

Special mention should be made of a type of recreational substance which, although in reality sold as legal, exploits the legal vacuum created by the lack of knowledge about them, or because it is so new that there has not yet been time to ban it. The most well-known case is that of Holland, where the purchase and consumption of cannabis is allowed in cafes. Also in Washington and Colorado, the United States or Uruguay, recreational use is allowed (although with restrictions). In other countries, including ours, use is decriminalized as long as it takes place in private places. However, consumption in public is prohibited and illegal. This is the harvest, and the same obviously applies to their sale and distribution. The variables in the study were: (a) socio-demographic; b) use of legal and illegal drugs at some point in life and in the past 30 days, and c) depressive symptoms assessed using the Yesavage GDS scale, which classified them in the ranges of 0 to 5 normal, 6 to 9 mild and more than 10 moderate/severe10. Legal and illegal drug use by drug type and sex medication can help relieve withdrawal symptoms. For addiction to certain drugs, there are medications that can help restore normal brain function and reduce anxiety related to drug use.

It should be noted that 64.15% of participants with symptoms of major depression (n=34), 12.64% with mild symptoms (n=23), and 15.86% without symptoms (n=23) were polyusers. In contrast, 15.09% of those with symptoms of major depression (n=8), 45.05% with mild symptoms (n=82), and 37.24% with no symptoms (n=54) were not taking medication. To analyze legal and illegal drug use among people over 60 who use Facebook® and its association with symptoms of depression during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.
