The Good Wife is a poignant legal and political drama that aired its first episode in 2009 and its last in 2016, officially ending after seven seasons. You can seemingly throw morality and ethical decency out the window if you`re a lawyer, but Better Call Saul has proven time and time again that, no matter what, a lawyer has to be a dramatic life. Sure, the life of the ordinary lawyer may not compare to the life of Saul Goodman or Kim Wexler, but they`re probably still worthy of television. Outside of the courtroom and other legal matters, lawyers` lives can be just as worried, if not more so. L.A. Law explores this lawyers` angle through a powerful law firm that charges a premium to its clients. Boston Legal was definitely a very sarcastic show that had a very good mix of drama, which made it perfect for the likes of James Spader, William Shatner, and Candace Bergen. His sarcastic style was welcome on this show, which had a lot to do with civil lawsuits and kept the best people at bay as much as possible. They were once three of Hollywood`s biggest egos and still rank at the top, but for this show, they were perfect because they had their hands free and acted.
For Spader, it was like a dream come true because he had two perfect individuals to play against and could therefore make the most of a show that people had high expectations of. The show ran from 2004 to 2008, so it didn`t last exceptionally long. But often, it doesn`t take that long when shows have to do with the law. Those that do are more of an anomaly than anything else, like Law and Order: CSR. Shows like these tend to come out, gain an audience, and then drift as people start looking elsewhere for their entertainment. This series not only has everything to do with the law and legal proceedings, but also a lot to do with the relationship between the main character and his new assistant. Throughout the series, Glenn Close`s character, Patty, tends to distance herself from all the chaos as she tries to leave the law firm for something else. All these intrigues in the courtroom are spiced up by the private lives and romantic relationships of the firm`s lawyers. Think of them as additional challenges for all legal staff and professionals. All this is happening in the City of Angels. Either way, the twist in The Defenders is that it`s set in Las Vega – a unique location that`s often less explored in law or crime series.

What sets The Good Fight apart is its fearlessness in using real-world events as inspiration for its legal and political drama. Not to mention Christine Baranski`s award-winning performance as Lockhart! Modern Family is the kind of show that many people can relate to because of the variety of family members shown in the program. From those who are just fun to those who are constantly martial and like to impose their will on others, the show is full of non-stop cheerfulness. In addition, many viewers can`t help but find similarities with their own families featured in the show. It seems that such shows suffer from a very real illness, not having enough interesting material to chat, entertain people and keep them ready to keep watching. Many other shows have had the same problem, as they have also fallen into the water.
Some shows didn`t even last a single season, as their premise was simply considered too weak to warrant staying. Boston Legal was held for at least a few seasons and had some on-screen success thanks to its actors and their wild and crazy antics. But unfortunately, as with all shows, there was always the possibility that they would finally have to face the music and find other venues if their show was cancelled. The Practice sometimes throws a hint of light comedy in the middle of all the legal issues that conflict with personal morality, giving it a little heart and not just unhappiness. This is definitely a must for any fan of the subgenre. It is so gratifying to see an offender brought to justice. That`s probably why we all love watching legal drama. We may not be the ones putting bad guys in jail, but it`s fascinating to see our favorite lawyers do it.
And one of the best legal dramas of recent years has been Suits. Unlike other legal dramas of the time, The Practice went out of its way from showing a perfect and correct American legal system to show the other side of the coin: what if what you have to do in court cases violates your personal moral compass.
