In this two-year practical degree, your instructors are lawyers and former paralegals who will show you how to assist your lawyer in important tasks in various cases. Find out how you can become an integral part of legal practice with highly specialized legal administration skills. In your content-related courses, you will master terminology relevant to corporate, real estate, family, criminal and more. You will perform legal assistant duties such as preparing a separation agreement, a criminal law file and a protocol book. Email is the main source of communication during the selection process. Make sure your personal email account is properly managed to receive our emails, files, and communications. We recommend that you add the business.advising@sait.ca domain to your safe senders list, or you may miss important e-mail messages. With industry software, you will develop accurate keyboard and transcription skills and customize your good knowledge of English spelling and grammar to effectively prepare various legal documents. They have a qualified legal assistant degree and are highly applicable in law firms and the judicial system. In your capstone course, you will simulate a real law firm to integrate all your knowledge of legal assistants.
At the end of the program, you will demonstrate your professionalism and expertise to potential employers during your one-month internship. Step 1: Read the program information to see what qualities are needed for student success. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates receive a SAIT Legal Assistant diploma. Students must obtain a PGPA and/or CGPA of 2.0 or better each semester and successfully complete the preparatory courses necessary to complete the program. To be eligible for graduation, students must successfully complete all courses, obtain a CGPA of 2.0 or higher, and complete course requirements within the prescribed time frame. At least 50% in the following courses or equivalent courses: Step 3: Apply as a legal assistant and submit your transcripts and/or advance final grades Can`t find your program or courses? Graduates can pursue employment opportunities in law firms, the judicial system, registries, and in companies such as oil and gas organizations.
