UCF Online Find out how you can earn a law degree entirely online! UCF`s Department of Legal Studies offers excellence in teaching, research, and services related to law and the legal community. Our faculty members provide excellent instruction at the bachelor`s and master`s levels to students interested in studying law and preparing for legal careers or law schools. Students have access to LSAT preparation and practice tests, resume exam and interview practice. Students are located in downtown UCF, within walking distance of the Orange County Courthouse, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and many other jobs and internship opportunities. Students can also join program-related organizations such as Moot Court, Mock Trial, and Mediation Teams, as well as honor societies such as Phi Alpha Delta and Phi Delta Phi. Students must apply for selection in this programme no later than the end of the first semester of their first year. Advance requests will also be accepted. Admission requirements include a declared law major, an SAT score of 1175, a cumulative high school GPA of 3.6, successful completion of at least 15 credit hours of UCF coursework with a UCF GPA of 3.2, completion of at least 33 credit hours of required courses in sections 4 and 5 below in residence at UCF, an essay of personal statement, two letters of recommendation and an in-person interview. The BA requires two semesters of foreign language at the college level, but the BS requires two years of foreign language at the high school level. The BS in Legal Studies at UCF will give you a broad understanding of the basic principles of law as well as the role and function of the legal system. Through your studies, you will learn how to write for the legal system and conduct legal research. They provide a solid foundation on which to build your understanding of other elements of law, such as international law, negotiations and mediation. The minor in law is 18 credit hours and provides a solid foundation of the legal system without requiring the student to change their planned major. These hours are broken down as follows: Law and Legal System (compulsory) and 15 credit hours of APL elective courses in different areas of concentration. Law students are encouraged to work closely with their program advisor in planning the degree and career goals. Successful completion of the program requirements leads to a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Legal Studies.
The B.A. requires two semesters of foreign language at the university level; The BS requires two years of foreign language in high school.
