The Office of Compulsory School Attendance Enforcement is responsible for ensuring that all students in Mississippi have the opportunity to attend school and for enforcing the Mississippi Compulsory School Attendance Act § 37-13-91 of the Mississippi Code 1972 annotated. The law regulates compulsory schooling. It requires a parent, guardian or guardian who has legal control or responsibility for a child between the ages of six (6) and seventeen (17) to enroll the child in an educational program (i.e. public, private or home).
