The Navy operates in an increasingly complex legal and regulatory environment. We provide the legal expertise needed to conduct military operations around the world. We also support the Navy as a whole by providing legal advice for programs such as recruitment, training and organization. The men and women of the U.S. Navy are its most important asset. We support military personnel and their families through legal assistance. In addition, we provide legal assistance to wounded warriors and support active personnel at all stages of the disability assessment system. “After taking a business law course for my undergraduate studies, I knew I wanted to become a lawyer. Through their training and experience, they have knowledge and expertise in military and civilian legal systems, as well as in substantive and procedural law, which allows them to carry out legal activities under the supervision of a lawyer. Navy is unique among services in its ability to project power in all areas: on land, at sea and in the air. As a Navy Judge Advocate, you will experience the most diverse legal practice available to a lawyer. Some of the specific areas of our practice include: A lawyer`s knowledge, skills and abilities include: legal assistance in legal areas such as wills and estates, consumer advocacy, landlord/tenant, immigration and naturalization, tax law, and family law, all of which include the preparation and review of technical legal documents for the lawyer`s signature. Some tasks of the military justice system include the preparation of cases and hearings, investigations, courts martial and tribunals, the processing of appeals and the coordination of extrajudicial sanctions. Lawyers also act as trial paralegals for both litigator and defence counsel. They work in all areas of the Navy and support and develop our organization and staff, so world-class communication skills are essential. You must enjoy helping others develop and enjoy having many opportunities to improve your own skills. Postgraduate and continuing vocational training courses are funded.
They must understand, maintain and manage the state-of-the-art systems and equipment that enable us to be operationally effective and protect our country`s interests.
